METEO
Basically quite good weather. The prolonged situation of bise is over, the winds are coming from westerly directions. The current situation of the bise pushing moist air to the northern slopes of the Alps is therefore over.

The pressure distribution is flat (see charts ...), which is why it is difficult to make a detailed forecast (if it is only slightly wetter or drier, this has a major influence. Or e.g. a CB in the Valais produces cirrus in Engelberg, which prevents the development of high CU (TCU, Towering Cumulus)...).

Nevertheless, we will try a detailed forecast:

Thursday
We expect wash-off from a warm front > possibly cirrus fields
Good thermals and base above 3000

A small trough is forecast aloft during the night.

Friday
Increased tendency for overdevelopments
CB in diurnal cycle, but mainly in the east, Engelberg could be lucky

High altitude low pressure moves away for the weekend

Saturday and Sunday
Daytime weather
Isolated TCU, shading and probably no CB because of that

WIND
It is almost certain that there will be relatively little wind during the entire period of the Alpencup.

SUMMARY
Currently we can expect 3-4 medium to good tasks. But still: The flat pressure distribution does not allow a definite forecast.

METEO deutsch

Grundsätzlich recht gutes Wetter. Die lang anhaltende Bisenlage ist zu Ende, die Winde kommen aus westlichen Richtungen. Die aktuelle Situation, dass die Bise feuchte Luft an den Alpennordhang drückt, ist also vorbei.

Die Druckverteilung ist flach (siehe Charts …), weswegen eine Prognose im Detail schwierig ist (wenn es nur ganz wenig feuchter oder trockener ist, hat dies einen grossen Einfluss. Oder z.B. ein CB im Wallis produziert Cirren in Engelberg, weswegen die Entwicklung von hohen CU (TCU, Towering Cumulus) gehemmt wird…).

Wir versuchen es dennoch mit einer Detailprognose:

Donnerstag
Wir erwarten Abschwemmungen von einer Warmfront > ev. Zirrenfelder
Gute Thermik und Basis über 3000

In der Nacht ist ein kleiner Trog in der Höhe prognostiziert.

Frreitag
Verstärkte Tendenz zu Überentwicklungen
CB im Tagesgang, aber vor allem im Osten, Engelberg könnte Glück haben

Höhentief zieht aufs Wochenende ab

Samstag und Sonntag
Tagesgangwetter
Isolierte TCU, Abschattungen und deswegen wahrscheinlich keine CB

WIND
Fast sicher ist, dass es im ganzen Zeitraum des Alpencup relativ wenig Wind hat.

ZUSAMMENFASSUNG
Aktuell können wir mit 3-4 mittelguten bis guten Task rechnen. Aber eben: Die flache Druckverteilung lässt keine definitive Prognose zu.
