Die Naviter Edition der SRS in Tolmin startete mit einem 54-Kilometer-Task bei vielversprechenden Bedingungen. Nach taktischen Routenwahlen und einem schwierigen Abschnitt am Stol konnte ich dank einer perfekten Linie als Zweiter die Ziellinie überfliegen und mir einen starken 20. Platz sichern.

Vielversprechendes Wetter mit gutem Wind am Startplatz empfing uns heute in Tolmin. Die Bedingungen sahen von Beginn an sehr gut aus, und bereits vor dem Briefing drehten die ersten Freeflyer ihre Kreise. Um exakt 12:00 Uhr öffnete das Startfenster, und ich startete als Erster. Anfangs war die Thermik noch etwas zyklisch, sodass wir geduldig auf eine gute Blase warten mussten, um Höhe aufzubauen. Weiter oben bildeten sich dann zwei grosse Pulks im Airstart-Zylinder – einer direkt über dem Startplatz, der andere etwas dahinter. Beide Pulks kratzten an der Wolkenbasis auf rund 2200 Metern und man musste aufpassen, nicht in die Wolken gesaugt zu werden. Um 13:30 Uhr erfolgte schliesslich der Airstart.



Verkehr an der Ridge und taktische Routenwahl
Zuerst mussten wir einen Turnpoint mitten im Tal holen und flogen danach direkt zurück an die Ridge. Anschliessend ging es zu einem Wendepunkt im Nordwesten. An der Ridge war extrem viel Verkehr, was den Höhengewinn schwierig machte. Danach gab es mehrere Optionen zum nächsten Turnpoint: Einige wählten die vorgelagerte Ridge auf der optimierten Linie, kamen dabei aber etwas tiefer. Eine andere Gruppe flog den Kessel des Krn aus und konnte dort komfortabel an der Basis bleiben. Vom Nordwesten her wartete ein grosser Zylinder vor dem Stol, der verschiedene Anflugmöglichkeiten bot. In unserer Verfolgergruppe war die Linie jedoch offensichtlich, da zahlreiche Piloten vor uns die Thermik markierten.



Die beste Thermik des Tages und der Final Glide
Nach einem guten Schlauch hinter dem Stol und einem einfachen Gleitflug zum nächsten Wendepunkt erreichten wir wieder die Ridge des Stol. Hier wurde es trickreich: Ein spürbarer Talwind versetzte die Thermik stark, und es war schwer, wieder über Kretenhöhe zu kommen. Mit Rückenwind ging es dann in einer schnellen Transition zurück an die Haupt-Ridge über dem Camp Gabrje. Dort fand ich die beste Thermik des Tages! Ich konnte die Piloten vor mir nutzen, um meine Linie zu optimieren, und kämpfte mich so vom Mittelfeld zurück ins vorderste Lead Gaggle. Vor dem Final Glide ins Elevated Goal (200 m) brauchte ich nur noch einen einzigen, letzten Aufwind. Ich schaffte es tatsächlich als zweiter Pilot über die Ziellinie! Durch die Verteilung der Leading Points reichte das am Ende für den sehr guten 20. Rang, nur knapp 40 Punkte hinter dem Tagessieger.

SRS Naviter Edition Tolmin 2026 - Manche 1 : Une belle remontée pour l'ouverture



L'édition Naviter des SRS à Tolmin a débuté par une manche de 54 kilomètres dans des conditions prometteuses. Après des choix tactiques et une section difficile au Stol, j'ai pu franchir la ligne d'arrivée en deuxième position grâce à une excellente ligne, m'assurant une solide 20ème place.


Une météo prometteuse avec un bon vent au décollage nous a accueillis aujourd'hui à Tolmin. Les conditions semblaient très bonnes dès le début, et quelques pilotes de vol libre étaient déjà en l'air avant le briefing. À 12h00 précises, la fenêtre de décollage s'est ouverte et j'ai été le premier à m'élancer. Au début, les thermiques étaient un peu cycliques, nous avons donc dû attendre une bonne bulle pour prendre de l'altitude. Plus haut, deux grands groupes (gaggles) se sont formés dans le cylindre de start - un juste au-dessus du décollage, l'autre un peu derrière. Les deux flirtaient avec la base des nuages à environ 2200 mètres, luttant pour ne pas se faire aspirer à l'intérieur. Le start aérien a été donné à 13h30.



Trafic sur la crête et choix de route tactiques
Nous devions d'abord valider une balise au milieu de la vallée avant de retourner directement sur la crête. Ensuite, direction un point de virage au nord-ouest. Sur le relief, il y avait énormément de trafic, rendant le gain d'altitude difficile. Plusieurs options s'offraient alors pour la balise suivante : certains ont choisi la crête avancée sur la ligne optimisée, mais se sont retrouvés plus bas. Un autre groupe a suivi le cirque du Krn, ce qui leur a permis de rester confortablement au plafond. Depuis le nord-ouest, un grand cylindre nous attendait devant le Stol, offrant différentes options d'approche. Dans notre groupe de chasse, la ligne était cependant évidente grâce aux nombreux pilotes devant nous qui marquaient les thermiques.



Le meilleur thermique du jour et le plané final
Après un bon thermique derrière le Stol et un plané facile vers la balise suivante, nous avons facilement rejoint la crête du Stol. C'est là que les choses se sont corsées : la brise de vallée était déjà bien installée et décalait fortement les thermiques, rendant difficile le passage au-dessus de la ligne de crête. Avec le vent dans le dos, la transition a été rapide pour rejoindre la crête principale au-dessus du Camp Gabrje. C'est là que j'ai trouvé le meilleur thermique de la journée ! J'ai pu utiliser les pilotes devant moi pour optimiser ma ligne, ce qui m'a permis de remonter du milieu du classement jusqu'au groupe de tête (lead gaggle). Il ne me manquait plus qu'une dernière ascendance avant la glissade finale vers le Goal surélevé à 200 m. J'ai réussi à franchir la ligne d'arrivée en deuxième position ! Avec le calcul des "leading points", cela me donne une très belle 20ème place, à seulement 40 points du vainqueur du jour.

SRS Naviter Edition Tolmin 2026 - Task 1: A Great Catch-Up to Start



The Naviter Edition of the SRS in Tolmin kicked off with a 54-kilometer task in promising conditions. After tactical route choices and a tricky section at Stol, a perfect line allowed me to cross the finish line in second place, securing a strong 20th position overall.


Promising weather with good wind at take-off welcomed us today in Tolmin. The conditions looked very good right from the start, and some free flyers were already in the air before the briefing. At exactly 12:00 PM the window opened, and I was the first one in the air. It was a bit cyclic at the beginning, so we had to wait for a good bubble to establish altitude. Once a bit higher, two gaggles formed in the airstart cylinder—one directly above take-off and the other a bit behind. Both were right at cloudbase at around 2200m, fighting not to fly into the clouds. The airstart was triggered at 1:30 PM.



Crowded Ridge and Tactical Route Choices
First, we had to tag a turnpoint a bit in the middle of the valley and then head straight back to the ridge. Afterwards, there was a turnpoint in the northwest. It was very crowded at the ridge, making it difficult to gain altitude. From there, multiple routes led to the next turnpoint: some opted to fly the front ridge on the optimized line but got a bit lower, while another group flew the bowl of Krn and could stay comfortably at cloudbase. Coming from the northwest, there was a big cylinder in front of Stol with different options to tag it. In the chasing group, the line was pretty obvious with a lot of thermal markers out in front.



The Best Thermal of the Day and Final Glide
After a good thermal behind Stol and an easy glide to the next turnpoint, we reached the ridge of Stol again. But it was tricky to get above the ridgeline here: there was already a noticeable valley breeze, and the thermals shifted quite a bit. With a tailwind, it was a fast transition back to the main ridge above Camp Gabrje. That’s where I found the best thermal of the day, which brought me right back into the game! I could use other pilots in front to optimize my line, and this way, I was able to catch up from the middle of the ranking all the way back to the front gaggle. I just needed one last climb before the final glide to the elevated goal (200m). I managed to cross the finish line as the second pilot! With the fair game of leading points, I ended up in a very good 20th place, only 40 points behind the winner.
