SONNTAG (Training day)

Switzerland lies in the area of influence of a low-pressure system over southern Scandinavia. A northwesterly flow brings moderately humid air, particularly to the central and eastern parts of the country. During the course of Sunday, a high-pressure system extends from the Atlantic to the Alpine region and temporarily determines the weather in Switzerland.

High residual moisture from precipitation. Many low and medium-high clouds, but it will likely be somewhat sunny in the valley center starting at noon (with cirrus clouds). Little chance of precipitation (precipitation is expected on the north (Glarus) side).

QNH 2022, 5-6 hp northerly overpressure
Good gradient up to 3500, then inversion (probably causing spreading).

Ground: weak to normal valley winds
1500m East or Southeast along the slopes
2000m “North”, 5-15 km/h
2500m North, 15 km/h
3000m North, 15-20 km/h
4000m North, 20-30 km/h

The question is when the base will rise above the takeoff altitude (2300) and then whether we will have updrafts or backwind (if there is no sun, the N wind can reach further than the take-off site).
