Stärkere Winde und tückische Leefallen am Hauptgrat sorgten für ein dramatisches Rennen, bei dem Pascal Blum als bester Schweizer auf Rang 4 brillierte und Baptiste Lambert eine taktische Meisterleistung zeigte.

Zyklische Thermik am Airstart
Der zweite Task der SRS in Le Grand-Bornand führte das Feld heute über 91 Kilometer durch die beeindruckende Kulisse rund um den Lac d’Annecy, entlang des südlichen Grats und sogar ein Stück hinaus ins Flachland. Die Bedingungen unterschieden sich deutlich von gestern: Die Thermik war etwas schwächer, dafür blies der Wind spürbar stärker. Bereits der Airstart stellte die Pilotinnen und Piloten vor eine Herausforderung, denn die Thermik arbeitete sehr zyklisch. Trotzdem gelang es den meisten, sich rechtzeitig in eine gute Ausgangsposition zu bringen.
Geduld bei der Seequerung und der Überlebenskampf im Flachland
Nach dem Start ging es mit hohem Tempo bis zur Querung des Lac d’Annecy. Dort zeigte sich einmal mehr, wie kleine Entscheidungen im Gleitschirm-Rennsport über Erfolg oder Misserfolg entscheiden können. Wer im richtigen Moment bereit war, Zeit zu investieren und Höhe mitzunehmen, verschaffte sich einen entscheidenden Vorteil.
Nach dem Wendepunkt im Flachland änderte sich das Bild jedoch schlagartig. Die Thermik wollte dort einfach nicht mehr funktionieren, sodass sich das Feld mühsam zurück zu den Hügeln kämpfen musste. Erst dort fanden die Piloten wieder verwertbare Aufwinde.
Das Drama der Spitze und Lamberts Meisterstück
Für die Führungsgruppe sollte der entscheidende Moment aber erst noch kommen: Sie wählte die Route entlang des Hauptgrats und geriet dort im Lee des starken Gegenwinds massiv unter Druck. Die Folge: Ein Grossteil der Spitze wurde tief gedrückt und musste schliesslich landen. Nur Baptiste Lambert entschied sich für eine alternative Linienwahl, eine Entscheidung, die sich als goldrichtig erwies. Während viele seiner direkten Konkurrenten ausschieden, funktionierte seine Route hervorragend. Nur wenigen Piloten gelang es, sich aus grosser Tiefe noch einmal zurückzukämpfen.
Der Hauptpulk konnte von den Problemen der Spitzengruppe teilweise profitieren. So erreichten am Ende doch noch 49 Pilotinnen und Piloten das Goal nach einem Task, der eindrucksvoll zeigte, dass bei anspruchsvollen Bedingungen nicht nur Geschwindigkeit, sondern vor allem Taktik und Timing über den Ausgang des Rennens entscheiden.
Starke Schweizer Teamleistung
Besonders erwähnenswert ist zudem die Teamwertung dieses anspruchsvollen Tages: Die beiden Swiss League Teams "Alpine Wings" und "Alpine Wings 2" (letzteres war mit nur zwei Piloten am Start!) flogen auf die sensationellen Ränge 3 und 5. Eine wirklich bärenstarke Teamleistung, die das enorme Potenzial der Schweizer Delegation unterstreicht!

SRS Le Grand-Bornand 2026 - Manche 2 : Le piège de la plaine, le drame sous le vent et un coup de maître tactique
La deuxième manche des SRS au Grand-Bornand a emmené le peloton sur 91 kilomètres dans le décor du lac d'Annecy. Des vents plus forts et des pièges sous le vent sur la crête principale ont donné lieu à une course dramatique, où Pascal Blum a brillé en tant que meilleur Suisse à la 4ème place et Baptiste Lambert a fait preuve d'une grande maîtrise tactique.
Thermiques cycliques au start aérien
La deuxième manche des SRS au Grand-Bornand a conduit le peloton aujourd'hui sur 91 kilomètres à travers les paysages impressionnants autour du lac d'Annecy, le long de la crête sud et même un peu en plaine. Les conditions étaient très différentes d'hier : les thermiques étaient un peu plus faibles, mais le vent soufflait nettement plus fort. Le start aérien a déjà mis les pilotes au défi, car les thermiques fonctionnaient de manière très cyclique. Néanmoins, la plupart ont réussi à se placer à temps dans une bonne position de départ.
Patience lors de la traversée du lac et lutte pour la survie en plaine
Après le départ, le rythme a été très soutenu jusqu'à la traversée du lac d'Annecy. Là, il est apparu une fois de plus à quel point de petites décisions en compétition de parapente peuvent faire la différence entre la réussite et l'échec. Ceux qui étaient prêts à investir du temps au bon moment pour prendre de l'altitude ont pris un avantage décisif.
Après le point de virage en plaine, la situation a cependant changé brusquement. Les thermiques ne voulaient tout simplement plus fonctionner, de sorte que le peloton a dû lutter péniblement pour retourner vers les collines. Ce n'est que là que les pilotes ont retrouvé des ascendances exploitables.
Le drame des leaders et le chef-d'œuvre de Lambert
Mais le moment décisif restait à venir pour le groupe de tête : ils ont choisi la route le long de la crête principale et se sont retrouvés sous une pression massive sous le vent à cause du fort vent de face. Conséquence : une grande partie des leaders a été plaquée au sol et a finalement dû poser. Seul Baptiste Lambert a opté pour une ligne alternative, une décision qui s'est avérée parfaite. Alors que beaucoup de ses concurrents directs étaient éliminés, sa route a fonctionné à merveille. Seuls quelques pilotes ont réussi à remonter de très bas.
Le peloton principal a pu profiter en partie des problèmes du groupe de tête. Ainsi, 49 pilotes ont finalement atteint le Goal après une manche qui a montré de manière impressionnante que, dans des conditions exigeantes, ce n'est pas seulement la vitesse, mais surtout la tactique et le timing qui décident de l'issue de la course.
Forte performance d'équipe suisse
À noter également le classement par équipe lors de cette journée exigeante : les deux équipes de la Swiss League, "Alpine Wings" et "Alpine Wings 2" (cette dernière ne comptant que deux pilotes au départ !), se sont hissées aux 3ème et 5ème places. Une performance d'équipe remarquable qui souligne l'énorme potentiel de la délégation suisse !

The second task of the SRS in Le Grand-Bornand took the field on a 91-kilometer journey through the scenery of Lake Annecy. Stronger winds and tricky lee traps on the main ridge made for a dramatic race, where Pascal Blum shone as the best Swiss pilot in 4th place and Baptiste Lambert showed a tactical masterclass.
Cyclic Thermals at the Airstart
The second task of the SRS in Le Grand-Bornand today took the field over 91 kilometers through the impressive scenery around Lake Annecy, along the southern ridge, and even a bit out into the flatlands. The conditions differed significantly from yesterday: the thermals were somewhat weaker, but the wind blew noticeably stronger. The airstart alone presented a challenge to the pilots, as the thermals were working very cyclically. Nevertheless, most managed to get into a good starting position in time.
Patience at the Lake Crossing and Survival in the Flats
After the start, the pace was high until the crossing of Lake Annecy. There, it showed once again how small decisions in paragliding racing can make the difference between success and failure. Those who were willing to invest time at the right moment to gain altitude secured a decisive advantage.
After the turnpoint in the flatlands, however, the picture changed abruptly. The thermals simply wouldn't work there anymore, so the field had to struggle painfully back to the hills. Only there did the pilots find usable lift again.
The Leaders' Drama and Lambert's Masterpiece
For the lead gaggle, however, the decisive moment was yet to come: they chose the route along the main ridge and came under massive pressure in the lee of the strong headwind. The consequence: a large part of the lead group was pushed low and eventually had to land. Only Baptiste Lambert opted for an alternative line, a decision that proved to be spot on. While many of his direct competitors bombed out, his route worked perfectly. Only a few pilots managed to fight their way back up from very low saves.
The main gaggle was able to partially profit from the lead group's problems. In the end, 49 pilots still reached Goal after a task that impressively showed that in demanding conditions, it's not just speed, but above all tactics and timing that decide the outcome of the race.
Strong Swiss Team Performance
Also worth mentioning are the team standings on this demanding day: the two Swiss League teams "Alpine Wings" and "Alpine Wings 2" (the latter competing with only two pilots!) flew to a sensational 3rd and 5th place. A truly formidable team performance that underlines the enormous potential of the Swiss delegation!
