Die Wetterlage stellte die Teilnehmer weiterhin auf die Probe: Nur wenig Sonneneinstrahlung bedeutete, dass selbst schwächste Thermik genutzt werden musste. Dank einer guten Labilität reichte jedoch schon wenig Licht für neue Auslösungen, und mit viel Geduld war weiterhin Fortschritt möglich. Die Spitzengruppe wurde dabei immer kleiner – viele Piloten mussten den Bedingungen Tribut zollen und landeten vorzeitig.

Simon Steiner zeigte in dieser schwierigen Phase starke Nerven und fand kurz vor Schluss noch die rettende Thermik für den Final Glide. Marco Sommerfeld konnte sich bereits zuvor in eine gute Ausgangsposition bringen und nutzte diese mit seinem neuen GIN GTO3 clever aus, um sich gegen den Photon 43s durchzusetzen. Der Final Glide von Simon war mit nur 35 Metern über Grund äusserst knapp – eine letzte Kurve vor der Landung passte gerade noch ins Höhenbudget.
