Swiss Cup Frutigen is cancelled
Dear pilots
After consulting with MeteoSchweiz and the organiser Freie Flieger Frutigland, the competition in Frutigen has been cancelled. The weather situation this weekend is simply too uncertain to run a safe competition with interesting tasks.
The weather is on a knife's edge between good and bad flying conditions: on Saturday, solar heating sets in late due to retreating cloud cover, and a second trough is expected to bring strong winds that will prevent good flying. Sunday will be somewhat calmer but remains unsettled – with a rather low cloud base and rather weak thermals.On Sunday there is also strong warm air advection, which can suppress thermal activity.
These uncertainties make reliable and safe task planning impossible.
