Auch der zweite Task des Swiss Cup Grindelwald konnte gestern erfolgreich durchgeführt werden.

Es wurde ein interessanter und abwechslungsreicher 76.9 km Race Task gesetzt, welcher den Pilotinnen und Piloten eine neue Route rund um Grindelwald bot.

Insgesamt erreichten 71 Piloten das Goal, dazu gab es 6 Luftraumverletzungen.

Besonders erfreulich: Es gab keine Unfälle und viele glückliche Gesichter im Goal über die neue, spannende Strecke.

Der Start war für viele Piloten nicht ganz einfach. Bereits früh war es sehr thermisch und in regelmässigen Abständen zogen kleine Dust Devils über den Startplatz, was Timing und Konzentration verlangte.

Die SSS war ein Erfolg. Das Warten auf rund 2900 m war zwar teilweise etwas chaotisch wegen des sehr unterschiedlichen Steigens, stellte aber dank des grossen verfügbaren Luftraums kein Problem dar.

Die angesagte hohe Bewölkung traf nur teilweise ein und war weniger dicht als prognostiziert. Dafür hatte es etwas mehr Wind als ursprünglich angesagt.

Sehr interessant war auch der Turnpoint bei Bäregg, ein Wendepunkt kurz vor der ESS. Einen Turnpoint in einer Schlucht zu setzen war sicher ein spezielles Szenario und sorgte für zusätzliche Spannung. Es brauchte durchaus etwas Mut, diesen ungefährlichen, aber optisch eindrücklichen Wendepunkt anzufliegen.

Ein spezieller Punkt an diesem Task war die neu gesetzte ESS. Dies war ein Versuch, und wir haben bereits einige Erkenntnisse daraus gewonnen. Piloten, welche die ESS hoch angeflogen haben, hatten keine Probleme. Piloten, welche sehr tief in die ESS eingeflogen sind, hatten hingegen teilweise Mühe.

Also the second task of the Swiss Cup Grindelwald was successfully completed yesterday.

An interesting and varied 76.9 km race task was set, offering the pilots a new route around Grindelwald.

A total of 71 pilots made goal, with 6 airspace infringements recorded.

Most importantly, there were no accidents, and many happy faces in goal after flying this exciting new route.

The start was not easy for many pilots. It was already very thermal early in the day, and small dust devils regularly passed through the takeoff, requiring good timing and concentration.

The SSS was a success. Waiting at around 2900 m was at times a little chaotic due to the varying climb rates, but with plenty of available airspace it did not cause any real issues.

The forecasted high cloud only arrived partially and was less dense than expected. On the other hand, there was slightly more wind than forecasted.

A very interesting part of the task was the turnpoint at Bäregg, just before the ESS. Setting a turnpoint in a narrow valley was certainly a special scenario and added extra excitement. It definitely took some courage to fly towards this safe but visually impressive turnpoint.

Another special point of this task was the newly set ESS. This was an experiment, and we have already learned a lot from it. Pilots who approached the ESS high had no problems, while pilots arriving very low had a more difficult time (as mentioned at the Briefing).
