Kurzer Task bei anspruchsvollen Bedingungen – 22 Piloten im Goal

Der fünfte Task in Gemona war erneut als Flachlandaufgabe konzipiert – diesmal mit einer Distanz von 50 km. Wegen nächtlicher Regenfälle wurde der Taskstart auf 14:30 Uhr verschoben. Die Berge blieben wegen instabiler Wetterlage und starkem Wind weiterhin ausgeschlossen.

Bereits beim Airstart kam es zu einer entscheidenden Aufteilung im Feld: Rund die Hälfte der Piloten blieb über dem Startplatz und konnte auf etwa 1600 m Höhe starten. Die andere Hälfte suchte ihr Glück wie am Vortag an den vorgelagerten Hügeln. Was sich bei Task 4 noch auszahlte, erwies sich nun als Fehlgriff, hier musste mit 500 Meter weniger Höhe in den Task gestartet werden und beeinflusste den weiteren Rennverlauf wesentlich.

Im Verlauf des Tages dominierten starke Südwestwinde und schwache Thermik. Die Bedingungen im Flachland waren anspruchsvoll und erforderten präzise Linienwahl sowie gutes Timing und noch mehr Glück. Die thermischen Aufwinde waren lokal begrenzt und teilweise nur schwer nutzbar.

22 Piloten erreichten das Goal. In der Gesamtwertung kam es aufgrund der Ergebnisse erneut zu grösseren Verschiebungen. Besonders relevant: Im Rahmen der SRS-Serie gibt es keine FTV-Regelung, was bedeutet, dass jedes Task-Ergebnis voll in die Wertung eingeht.

Der für den 8. Juli geplante Task wurde witterungsbedingt bereits abgesagt. Die Veranstalter planen mit einem letzten, potenziell entscheidenden Task am 9. Juli, sofern es die Wetterlage zulässt. Es bleibt spannend.

Tâche courte dans des conditions exigeantes – 22 pilotes à l’arrivée
La cinquième manche à Gemona a de nouveau été conçue comme une tâche en plaine – cette fois sur une distance de 50 km. En raison des pluies nocturnes, le départ a été reporté à 14h30. Les montagnes sont restées exclues en raison de conditions météorologiques instables et de vents forts.

Dès le départ en air, une division décisive s’est dessinée dans le groupe : environ la moitié des pilotes est restée au-dessus du décollage et a pu entamer la manche à environ 1600 m d’altitude. L’autre moitié a tenté sa chance, comme la veille, sur les collines en avant-pays. Ce qui avait fonctionné lors de la tâche 4 s’est révélé être une erreur cette fois-ci – le départ s’y faisait 500 m plus bas, ce qui a fortement influencé la suite de la course.

Au cours de la journée, de forts vents de sud-ouest et une faible activité thermique ont dominé. Les conditions en plaine étaient exigeantes, nécessitant un choix de ligne précis, un bon timing – et parfois un peu de chance. Les ascendances thermiques étaient très localisées et souvent difficiles à exploiter.

22 pilotes ont atteint l’arrivée. Le classement général a de nouveau été bouleversé par les résultats. Point important : dans le cadre de la série SRS, il n’y a pas de règle FTV, ce qui signifie que chaque résultat de manche compte entièrement pour le classement.

La tâche prévue le 8 juillet a été annulée en raison des conditions météorologiques. Les organisateurs prévoient une dernière manche décisive le 9 juillet, sous réserve de conditions favorables. Le suspense reste entier.

Short task in challenging conditions – 22 pilots in goal
The fifth task in Gemona was once again set entirely in the flatlands – this time covering a distance of 50 km. Due to overnight rainfall, the task start was delayed to 14:30. The mountains remained excluded from the route due to unstable weather and strong winds.

A decisive split in the field occurred already at the air start: about half of the pilots stayed above the takeoff and entered the task at around 1600 m altitude. The other half, as in the previous task, headed for the foothills. What worked in Task 4 turned out to be a disadvantage this time – starting 500 m lower significantly impacted the race progression.

Strong south-westerly winds and weak thermals dominated the day. Conditions in the flatlands were demanding and required precise route choices, good timing, and at times, a bit of luck. Thermals were very local and often difficult to use effectively.

22 pilots made it to goal. The overall rankings shifted significantly again due to the results. Especially relevant: the SRS series has no FTV (discard) rule, meaning each task result fully counts toward the total score.

The task scheduled for July 8 was cancelled due to weather conditions. Organizers are planning one final and potentially decisive task on July 9, weather permitting. The competition remains open.
