Competition News

The competition is cancelled

Jérôme Kägi 11. June 2026 OGO International Open 2026
The weekend itself looks beautiful: sunny, warm, highs around 26 to 27 degrees. But above 2000 metres the wind won’t back off, and that’s the part that counts.

The call
After a full week of chasing a window, we’re out of options. Both Saturday and Sunday bring a moderate to strong west and northwest wind through the mountains, and above 2000 metres there is no site that gives us two fair, safe tasks.

Why the sun isn’t enough
It would be easy to look at a warm, sunny forecast and want to fly. But a competition needs a level playing field, and a strong westerly to northwesterly aloft doesn’t give us one, not for one good task, let alone two. Forcing it would mean compromised, unsafe racing, and that is not what any of us came for.

Thank you
Thanks to everyone who registered, stayed flexible, and rode out a week of moving parts with us, the weather, the relocation, the airspace, the daily updates. It wasn’t the outcome we wanted, but it is the right one. Fly safe, and let’s look ahead.

Local flights will be possible of course and maybe some Regios take part.
