Teams aus ganz Europe sind in Gemona (IT) nahe der Slowenischen Grenze eingetroffen. Wie üblich wird der Wettbewerb mit den Klassen 1 (Flex) und 5 (Rigid) ausgetragen. Warum EM / WM? Für die Klasse 1 ist es die EM für die Klasse 5 die WM. Rund 130 Pilotinnen und Piloten aus 23 Ländern haben sich zum Event angemeldet. Das Schweizer Team ist bereit: Peter Neuenschwander, Damien Zahn und Jean-Daniel Kugler in der Klasse 1 und Julio Munoz in der Klasse 5 sind gut in Gemona angekommen und freuen sich auf eine super Wettbewerb. Wer am 13. Juni die begehrten Trophäen in den Händen hält, wird hier sicherlich publiziert. Das Fluggebiet ist vielen der Pilotinnen und Piloten bereits aus früheren Wettbewerben bekannt und bietet den Tasksettern viele Möglichkeiten. Besteht doch das Gebiet aus hohen Bergen im Norden und grossen Flachlandgebieten im Süden. Das verspricht interessante Tasks bei denen den Teilnehmenden sicherlich alles abverlangt wird. Heute Sonntag den 31. Mai ist die Einschreibung und die Eröffnungsfeier. Morgen den 1. Juni sollte ein Trainingstask angesagt werden, die Wetterprognosen stimmen mich aber etwas pessimistisch. Drückt unseren Athleten die Daumen! Teams from all over Europe have arrived in Gemona (IT), near the Slovenian border. As usual, the competition will feature Class 1 (Flex) and Class 5 (Rigid). Why European and World Championships? For Class 1, it’s the European Championship; for Class 5, it’s the World Championship. Around 130 drivers from 23 countries have registered for the event. The Swiss team is ready: Peter Neuenschwander, Damien Zahn, and Jean-Daniel Kugler in Class 1, and Julio Munoz in Class 5, have arrived safely in Gemona and are looking forward to a great competition. Whoever holds the coveted trophies in their hands on June 13 will certainly be featured here. Many of the pilots are already familiar with the flying area from previous competitions, and it offers task setters plenty of possibilities. After all, the area consists of high mountains in the north and large flatlands in the south. This promises interesting tasks that will certainly demand everything from the participants. Today, Sunday, May 31, is registration and the opening ceremony. Tomorrow, June 1, a training task is scheduled, but the weather forecasts are making me a bit pessimistic. Keep your fingers crossed for our athletes!
