WR attempt canceled

Michael Sigel 29. August 2020 XC Brazil 2020

Soon we should be on our way to Brazil to try to fly world records again. But this year everything is a little bit different, borders were closed, travelling is hardly possible.
While some countries (at least in the meantime) were able to contain the number of corona infections, this is unfortunately not the case in Brazil. Even if the infection curve is slightly decreasing, 40'000 people are getting infected and more than 1000 die every day. The hotspots are located in the large cities of Rio and Sao Paolo on the one hand, but also in the NE-states.
Although we do not belong to any risk group, there is always a residual risk of infection and subsequent complications. Accidents can also happen while paragliding and an admission to an overburdened hospital would be the consequence. Last but not least there is a travel warning for Brazil.
Because of this we have decided to postpone the record attempt of the XC-League until next year.
