SRS Roldanillo 2026 – Task 2: Ein Geduldsspiel mit taktischer Raffinesse Nachdem der Tross zwei Tage lang aufgrund nasser Bedingungen am Boden bleiben musste, kehrte heute die Hoffnung ins Valle de Cauca zurück. Der Plan der Tasksetter war ambitioniert: Eine 62,1 Kilometer lange Aufgabe sollte das Feld fordern. Doch das Wetter verlangte den Piloten zunächst vor allem eines ab: Geduld. Über drei Stunden mussten wir am Startplatz ausharren, bis die Basis sich endlich soweit hob, dass ein sicheres Rennen möglich war. Der Airstart wurde schliesslich auf 14:00 Uhr verschoben. Die Aufgabe ähnelte in ihrer Struktur dem ersten Task: Eine Querung über das Tal und wieder zurück. Doch diesmal bot sich eine taktisch entscheidende Wahl beim Start. Entweder man blieb an der bewährten Hauptridge, oder man wagte direkt die grosse Talquerung, um auf der gegenüberliegenden, eher flachen Seite einzusteigen. Während der Grossteil des Schweizer Teams auf die Sicherheit der Ridge setzte, entschied sich Marco Sommerfeld für den mutigen Sprung ins Flachland. Diese Entscheidung sollte sich als goldrichtig erweisen. Trotz starker Abschattungen funktionierte die "Flachland-Route" effizienter als der Hang. Der Tag entwickelte sich zu einem extremen "Survival-Game". Die Bedingungen waren zäh; oft mussten Nullschieber oder Thermiken mit gerade einmal 0,2 m/s geduldig und nervenstark ausgedreht werden, um nicht am Boden zu stehen. Am Ende schaffte es niemand bis ins Goal. Es siegte die reine Distanz und die Hartnäckigkeit. Marco Sommerfeld wurde für seinen Mut belohnt und landete als bester Schweizer auf dem hervorragenden 4. Rang. Ebenfalls stark präsentierte sich Lukas Gafner, der mit Platz 27 seine persönliche Bestleistung in einem solchen Feld übertraf. Ein schwieriger Tag, der zeigte, dass im Valle oft die Taktik über reinen Speed triumphiert. ----- Français -----
SRS Roldanillo 2026 – Manche 2 : Un jeu de patience et de finesse tactique Après deux jours cloués au sol par des conditions humides, l'espoir est revenu aujourd'hui dans la Valle de Cauca. Le plan du comité de course était ambitieux : une manche de 62,1 kilomètres. Mais la météo a d'abord exigé une chose des pilotes : de la patience. Nous avons dû attendre plus de trois heures au décollage que le plafond remonte suffisamment pour permettre une course en sécurité. Le start a finalement été repoussé à 14h00. La structure de la manche ressemblait à la première : une traversée de la vallée et un retour. Cependant, un choix tactique crucial s'offrait dès le départ. Soit rester sur la crête principale (le relief), soit tenter directement la grande traversée pour se positionner sur le côté opposé, plus plat. Alors que la majorité de l'équipe suisse a misé sur la sécurité du relief, Marco Sommerfeld a choisi l'option audacieuse de la plaine. Cette décision s'est avérée payante. Malgré d'importantes zones d'ombre, la route de plaine a mieux fonctionné que celle du relief. La journée s'est transformée en un véritable mode survie. Les conditions étaient faibles ; il fallait souvent enrouler patiemment des « zéros » ou des thermiques d'à peine 0,2 m/s pour ne pas poser. Au final, personne n'a atteint le Goal. C'est la distance pure et la ténacité qui l'ont emporté. Marco Sommerfeld a été récompensé pour son audace et termine meilleur Suisse à une excellente 4ème place. Lukas Gafner a également réalisé une belle performance, se classant 27ème et dépassant ainsi son record personnel dans un tel niveau de compétition. Une journée difficile qui a prouvé que dans la Valle, la tactique l'emporte souvent sur la vitesse pure. ----- English -----
SRS Roldanillo 2026 – Task 2: A Patience Game with Tactical Finesse After remaining grounded for two days due to wet conditions, hope returned to the Valle de Cauca today. The task committee's plan was ambitious: a 62.1-kilometer task lay ahead. However, the weather demanded one thing from the pilots above all else: patience. We had to wait at the launch for over three hours until the cloud base lifted enough to allow for a safe race. The airstart was finally pushed back to 2:00 PM. The task structure was similar to the first one: a valley crossing and back. But this time, a crucial tactical choice presented itself right at the start. One could either stay on the main ridge or dare to make the big valley crossing immediately to enter on the opposite, flatter side. While the majority of the Swiss team opted for the safety of the ridge, Marco Sommerfeld decided to take the bold leap into the flats. This decision turned out to be the right one. Despite heavy shading, the "flatland route" worked more efficiently than the ridge. The day turned into an extreme survival game. Conditions were weak; pilots often had to patiently core "zeros" or thermals of just 0.2 m/s to avoid bombing out. In the end, no one made it to Goal. The day was won by pure distance and tenacity. Marco Sommerfeld was rewarded for his boldness, finishing as the top Swiss pilot in an excellent 4th place. Lukas Gafner also put in a strong performance, finishing 27th and surpassing his personal best in such a competitive field.
