5e manche de la PWC à Aksaray
La météo s’annonce un peu plus compliquée aujourd’hui : un plafond annoncé à 2600 m et des thermiques bleus.
Le départ de la manche se fait en direction du sud. Les prévisions se confirment rapidement, nous plafonnons autour de 2600 m. Deux groupes se forment dès le début : l’un à droite, l’autre à gauche. Le groupe de gauche rencontre rapidement des difficultés à trouver des thermiques, et certains pilotes se posent dès la première transition.
Les groupes se reforment, mais le groupe de tête prend un peu d’avance avant de se retrouver bas. Nous les rattrapons par le haut. Le vol se déroule en mode "yoyo" constant, avec des groupes qui se séparent. En petits groupes de 4 à 6 pilotes, il devient difficile de trouver de bons thermiques.
La plaine est impressionnante, parsemée de nombreux dust devils (petites tornades de sable).
Finalement, le dernier glide se profile, et les pilotes convergent après avoir tenté différentes options.
Les résultats ne sont malheureusement pas à la hauteur pour l’équipe suisse :

Gaël Frochaux : ESS atteint, mais pas le goal — 62e
Kevin Philippe : posé en début de manche — 79e
PWC Round 5 in Aksaray
The weather is looking a bit more challenging today, with a forecasted cloudbase at 2600 m and blue thermals.
The task starts heading south. The forecast proves accurate, as we are indeed flying around 2600 m. Two groups form early on: one to the right, the other to the left. The left group struggles to find lift, and some pilots are already landing during the first transition.
The groups come back together, and the leading group pulls ahead before getting low. We catch up with them from above. The whole flight plays out like a kind of yo-yo, with pilots constantly changing altitudes. The groups split up again, and in small packs of 4–6 pilots, it becomes difficult to find strong thermals.
The plain is quite impressive, with numerous dust devils (mini sand tornadoes) visible along the way.
Eventually, the final glide takes shape, and the pilots reunite after trying different route options.
Unfortunately, the results are not the best for the Swiss team:
