Die allgemeine Wetterlage sieht insgesamt gut aus und der Swiss Cup Tessin / Monte Lema vom 1.–3. Mai ist angesagt.

Ein definitives Wetterupdate folgt morgen.

Aktuell sind noch rund 20 Plätze verfügbar.
Bei mehr als 80 angemeldeten Piloten müssen wir eine Selektion vornehmen.

Allgemeine Wetterlage
Auf der Vorderseite eines Kaltlufttropfens über dem Ärmelkanal floss am Dienstag aus Südwesten vorübergehend feuchtere Luft zu den westlichen Landesteilen und zu den Alpen. Am Mittwoch verlagert sich der Kaltlufttropfen zur Biskaya, die angefeuchtete Luftmasse bleibt aber noch über den Alpen und besonders auf der Alpensüdseite liegen.

Nördlich der Alpen sorgt eine Bisenströmung für trockene Verhältnisse. Ab Donnerstag weitet sich das Hoch weiter zum Alpenraum aus und sorgt für eine grossräumige Abtrocknung der Luftmasse. Auf der Alpensüdseite dürfte aber noch etwas Restfeuchtigkeit vorhanden bleiben.

Freitag, 1. Mai

Aktuell der schwächste Tag, obwohl es sehr sonnig aussieht.

Am Morgen hat es noch Restfeuchtigkeit und eine Inversion zwischen 1800 und 2000 m,. Die Thermik startet eher verhalten, wird aber über Mittag besser, mehrheitlich Blauthermik

Wir erwarten im Schnitt etwa 1.5 m/s Thermik, lokal etwas mehr am Nachmittag.
Die Basis liegt bei etwa 2000–2300 m.

Der Wind ist schwach bis mässig und scheint aktuell kein grosses Problem zu sein.

Samstag, 2. Mai

Aktuell klar der beste Tag.

Ziemlich sonnig mit nur wenig Bewölkung bis in den Nachmittag. Die Thermik setzt früh ein und entwickelt sich im Tagesverlauf deutlich besser.

Wir erwarten etwa 2 m/s Thermik, lokal auch stärker.
Die Basis liegt bei etwa 2400–2800 m.

Der Wind bleibt schwach bis mässig.

Sonntag, 3. Mai

Aktuell noch recht sonnig, im Tagesverlauf aber zunehmende Bewölkung von Westen/Südwesten.

Thermik wohl ähnlich oder leicht schwächer als Samstag, mit einer Basis um 2200–2400 m.

The weather situation currently looks promising overall for the Swiss Cup Ticino from May 1st to 3rd.

A cold air low over the English Channel temporarily brought more humid air from the southwest to western Switzerland and the Alps on Tuesday. On Wednesday, this low moves towards the Bay of Biscay, but the moister air mass will remain over the Alps and especially on the southern side of the Alps for a while.

North of the Alps, a bise flow is keeping conditions dry. From Thursday onward, high pressure will expand further into the Alpine region, leading to a large-scale drying of the air mass. On the southern side of the Alps, however, some residual humidity may remain.

The event is ON. Another weather update will follow tomorrow.

At the moment, there are still around 20 places available. If more than 80 pilots register, we will have to make a selection.

Friday, May 1st

Currently expected to be the weakest day, although it should remain very sunny.

In the morning there may still be some residual humidity with partial shading around 1800–2200 m. There also seems to be an inversion layer around 1800–2000 m, which may delay thermal development. Conditions should improve around midday.

Climbs are expected to be mostly around 1–1.5 m/s, locally up to 2 m/s in the afternoon, mostly blue
Cloudbase rather low at around 2000–2300 m.
Wind should remain weak to moderate and does not seem to be a major issue.

Saturday, May 2nd

Currently clearly the best day.

Quite sunny with only little cloud development into the afternoon. Thermals should start early and improve significantly during the day.

Climbs are expected to be around 2 m/s, locally stronger.
Cloudbase around 2400–2800 m.
Wind remains weak to moderate.

Sunday, May 3rd

Currently still looking fairly sunny, but with increasing cloud cover from the west/southwest during the day.

Thermals likely similar to or slightly weaker than Saturday, with cloudbase around 2200–2400 m.
