Sorry für die späte Berichterstattung. Aber wenn wir etwas weiter fliegen, dann schaffen wir es entweder gar nicht mehr nach Hause oder erst so spät, dass wir keine Reporte mehr schreiben können. Am Sonntag war die Windprognose mässig gut mit einer potenziellen Distanz von 450km. Los ging es dann relativ spät um 7 Uhr und Wind hatte es auch kaum. Das hatte zur Folge, dass auch die Schlepphöhe nicht besonders hoch war. Gestartet sind zuerst Rico und Yael, dann folgen Dominic und Michael, Dino und Sebi kamen 5 Minuten später. Es hatte einige Wolken und so war der Anfang für Yael, Michael und Dominic relativ einfach. Leider mussten die anderen drei Piloten bald mal landen. Das wird wohl immer so sein: insbesondere am frühen Morgen ist die Thermik sehr schwach und es braucht auch immer etwas Glück, die ersten beiden Stunden in der Luft zu bleiben. Klar, man könnte auch später starten wenn die Thermik zuverlässig ist – aber dann hat man halt schon 50 bis 100km verschenkt.
Leider hatte Yael gestern auch noch etwas Pech und musste kurz nach Patu landen. Dominic und ich sahen den Tag als Training und Teambuilding an und haben dann spätestens ab 9 Uhr richtig Gas gegeben. Zwischen den Thermiken sind wir eigentlich nur Vollgas geflogen. Interessant war, dass es bis km 250 vermutlich zu 7/8 bedeckt war – trotzdem ist es manchmal mit bis zu 5m/s integriert gestiegen. Als wir dann endlich in der Sonne waren, standen wir leider bei Quixeramobim am Boden nach 280km.

Sure, you could start later if the thermals are reliable - but then you have already given away 50 to 100km.
Unfortunately, Yael also had some bad luck yesterday and had to land shortly after Patu. Dominic and I saw the day as a training and teambuilding and started to fly at 9am at the latest. Between the thermals we flew actually only full throttle. It was interesting that up to km 250 it was probably 7/8 overcast - nevertheless it rose sometimes with up to 5m/s integrated. When we were finally in the sun, we were unfortunately on the ground at Quixeramobim after 280km.
