Kein Flugwetter heisst nicht, nichts tun! Wir arbeiten an den Details, um weiterzukommen! Gegen Tagesende reichte es aber dennoch für ein kleines Hike&Fly, wobei sich die Routenfindung im Tessiner Bergwald nicht als ganz trivial gestaltete...

Endlich setzte eine Schönwetterphase über der Schweiz ein und bescherte uns einige schöne Streckenflugtage. Der Donnerstag begann mit langen Flügen und auch der Freitag sah gut aus. Also gab es am Donnerstagabend ein Briefing und wir studierten gemeinsam das Wetter. Der Jura sah zu "bisig" aus, im BeO lag an den guten Startplätzen noch zu viel Schnee - Wallis it is! Der Startplatz war dann auch gut gefüllt, die Wolken standen wunderbar und ab 9:45 Uhr konnte man sicher starten. Spätestens ab Fiesch glühten die Beschleunigerrollen, Oberschenkel und Arme an den B-Gurten! Das Goms konnte man ohne zu drehen unter einer Wolkenstraße durchfliegen - besser geht's nicht. Viel weiter als Grimsel ging es wegen des vielen Schnees nicht, also wurde dort gewendet und zurück nach Westen geflogen. Villa Cassel stieg mit 6m/s im Gas und zumindest bei mir ratterten die Zahlen im Kopf: 300? 350km?! Doch kaum westlich von Brig änderte sich das Wolkenbild. Es waren nun nicht mehr schön begrenzte kleine Cumuluswolken, sondern verstreute Wolkenfetzen. Deutlicher Gegenwind und starkes Absinken ließen die Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit einbrechen. Zwar konnten die Finger endlich die B-Griffe loslassen, dafür mussten nun die Arme wegen der Turbulenzen arbeiten. Mit anderen Worten: Es war ungemütlich. Als sich die Situation auch in Leukerbad nicht besserte, ging das Rechnen wieder los... ... ... und ich bog ins Oberland ab - ein super Tag sieht leider anders aus und fühlt sich besser an. Viele hatten mehr Sitzleder als ich und sind bis zum Abend geflogen - Gratulation zu den schönen Flügen! Zum Glück kam der Samstag. Dieser war weniger feucht als erwartet und auch weniger windig. Retrouver nos cousins volatiles français, dans leurs belles Hautes-Alpes avec de tels paysages et un tel potentiel de vol. 5 jours aux conditions variables et chaque jour un nouveau défi de plus de 70 km avec pour point culminant le 3ème jour, 130 km où je peux prendre un très bon rythme et finir 3ème à 1 min 40 de Laurent Thevenot et 1 min de Jean-Daniel Kugler . Ces 2 pilotes ont montré la marche à suivre tout le long du championnat, Laurent gagnant chaque manche à l'exception de la dernière remportée par la pugnacité légendaire de Jean-Daniel qui sera le seul à la boucler. La Suisse était bien représentée avec notre Fab Zad national qui finit 2ème de la 2ème manche, Simon Rousselet qui a très bien commencé en faisant but aux 3 premières manches et en finissant 3ème à la 1ère, Julio Munoz qui a régulièrement fini dans les premiers avec son incroyable Atos VRS, sans oublier l'incroyable JD, toujours dans les 3 meilleurs, mettant à profit sa maîtrise des vols de distance, révélant ainsi ses qualités de pilote de haut vol. Laurent Thévenot finit 1er Jean-Daniel Kügler 2ème Nicolas Orand Très bon 3ème Pour ma part je finis 8ème, heureux, les yeux encore plein d'étoiles, après une incroyable 3ème manche, mais aussi un début de championnat difficile et une dernière manche nécessitant une grande finesse, où, après avoir mal commencé, je n'ai pas réussi à retenir suffisemment la fougue de mon aile après avoir rattrapé les autres et finit à mi-parcours, beau dernier de la manche Magnifique début de saison 2024 merci aux organisateurs, à Niek Mooij ainsi qu'aux bénévoles du club, aux pilotes et à tous ceux qui l'ont rendu possible ! Heute waren die Bedingungen noch besser als gestern - ein richtig guter Tag. Es wurde ein 111-km-Task zum Öschinensee - Meiringen - Morgenberghorn und zurück gesteckt. Der heutige Task war länger :-) Start auf First - Männlichen - Gr Scheidegg - Adelboden - Blueme ob Thun - Morgenberghorn - Harder - Goal! Der Tag wurde wegen dem feuchten und etwas stabilisierenden Talwind schwieriger, als es in Grindelwald ausgesehen hat. Dort war das Steigen gratis, grossflächig und stark mit guten Cumuli auf 3200. Bei Schwalmere, Kiental und dann ab Frutigen war die Basis wesentlich tiefer, 2500 - 2800, und der Talwind recht stark. So wurde die Linienwahl schwierig und für diejenigen, die das Gebiet nicht kannten, anspruchsvoll. Auch waren an manchem Eck «Level 2»-Konditionen. Die Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit war mit 28 km/h nicht sehr hoch. Chrigel wählte eine Route weit hinten in den Bergen, die meisten aber flogen die direkte Linie. In Adelboden war dann viel Schatten, wodurch einige Langsamere nicht weiter kamen. Auch war die ganze Niesenkette von NW angeströmt. Die Bise mit relativ tiefer Basis hat die Möglichkeiten im Tasksetting eingeschränkt. So haben wir uns entschlossen, den Hardergrat nach Brienz und zurück abzufliegen. Im Pilotenjargon: Ridge Race. So war es dann auch. Nach dem Zick Zack zu Beginn konnten die Toppiloten 50km ohne einen einzigen Kreis gerade aus bolzen. Gemäss Prognosen sollte es schon am Vormittag trocken werden, und einige Modelle prognostizierten gute Aufhellungen ab 14 Uhr. So bewegte sich der Tross mit ÖV und Shuttlebussen zum Parkplatz Hohwald, wo das Briefing statt finden sollte. Ein provisorischer Task wurde publiziert. Aber es regnete. Nicht zu sehen auf dem Radar, nicht in den Modellen. Es regnete um 11, als wir hochfuhren, es regnete um 12, als das Briefing auf 13 Uhr verschoben wurde, und es regnete um 13 Uhr. Wir hätten nochmals um 1 Stunde verschieben können, aber es schien hoffnungslos: So wurde gecancelt, und der ganze Tross bewegte sich wieder nach unten... Einige fuhren dann bald wieder hoch für einen Flug - aber für einen Task kam die Aufhellung 2, 3 Stunden zu spät.

Es regnete als alle Pilot:innen in Linienbussen (reserviert mit Extrafahrten) nach Waldegg fuhren, während dem Briefing regnete es kurz nicht, aber es nieselte auch am Start noch. So wurde der Start auf 13:30 und der Airstart auf 15 Uhr verschoben. Zum Glück. Anfangs ging es mega zäh (ohne Sonne), später wars aber richtig schön zu fliegen. Der kurze Task bot viele Optionen, so dass alle sehr zufrieden waren. Fabrice drehte an einer wichtigen Stelle höher als Steph Morgenthaler und Michi Maurer, schaffte einen entscheidenden Übergang und baute den Vorsprung bis ins Ziel sogar noch aus.
