Der Föhn und damit der Wind soll fast doppelt so stark sein wie gestern, weswegen das Tasksetterteam beschliesst, keinen Task zur normalen Mittagszeit zu setzen. Sicherheit geht vor. Um 14:30 wird dann verkündet: Sedrun - Flims - Landung in Ilanz. 55 km. Airstart um 16:30 ! Die Verhältnisse sind nun aber wirklich gut,. nur an wenigen Stellen würde man einen Level 2 geben, meist gehts ruhig bis auf etwa 3500. Ob 2800 ist der Wind schwach. Aber ja, auf 2000 bis 2500 hat es zu Beginn der Strecke 20, 25 kmh SW, was ein paar Ecken in der Mittagsthermik sehr ungemütlich gemacht hätte. Richtig grandios ist das Warten vor dem Start. Die erste Wende bei Sedrun ist schnell geholt. Und nun gilt bei den Schnellsten wohl: Wer dreht verliert. Erst am Cavistrau wird aufgedreht, bevors in die flächeren Zonen bei Brigels geht. Entscheidend ist nun die richtige Linie zu nehmen und zwei, drei Mal aufdrehen. Der Französische Superpilot Honorin Hamard gewinnt den Tag dank Leadingpunkten, dicht gefolgt von unserme Altmeister Alfredo Studer. Michi Küffer, Dominik Breitinger und Adrian Hachen sind in den Top Ten, Steph Morgenthaler auf Rang 14. Steph festigt damit die Führung in der Gesamtrangliste. Bei den Damen hat Yael Seiko eingeholt, sie sind nun punktegleich auf Rang 1 ! Welch spannende Ausgangslage, sollte es morgen nochmals einen Task geben. Dies aber ist sehr ungewiss. Infos dazu Morgen um 8 Uhr.

In der Höhe dreht der Wind auf W, in den Tälern beginnt der Talwind. Wegen relativ spät einsetzender Thermik können wir mit dem Start wohl etwas warten. Wahrscheinlich wird der Wind am Startplatz ab 13h aber zu stark, und der SW-Wind bricht vom Lukmanier nach Disentis und weiter hinunter. Wir lassen es deswegen mit der Zeit vom Briefing bei 9:45. Wahrscheinlich fahren wir mit dem Sessel aber erst um 10:30 oder 10:45 hoch.

Es war windig, und die Thermik nicht sehr stark - so wurde der Task sehr taktisch, vor allem nach der Querung ins Schanfigg, je weiter hinten im Schanfigg, desto schwieriger. Davos wurde optimalerweise zum Hüreli (Pischahorn) gequert. Wer dort maximale Höhe (3300) machte, erreichte den ESS bei Fanas einigermassen problemlos, viele aber hatten Mühe im stabilen Talwind uns mussten vorher landen.

Heute konnte ein 62-km-Task geflogen werden. Spannend war vor allem der Beginn nach Brigels und zurück, weil die Zirren beinahe 100% abschatteten, und dann, wer möglichst schnell den Wendepunkt am Piz Muraun holen konnte. Hierfür gab es verschiedene Möglichkeiten, aber wegen dem Westwind und der schlechten Thermik unterhalb Waldgrenze entschieden sich beinahe alle, fast ganz nach Disentis zurück zu fliegen. Dort gings wieder mit 3m/s auf 2900, do dass über Soliva problemlos Anschluss gefunden wurde. Der Rest der Aufgabe war dank uneingeschränkter Sonneneistrahlung recht einfach, die Landung war in Trun. PS: Wir hatten ab 15 Uhr mit starken Abschattungen der Warmfront gerechnet. Diese blieben aber aus, bis 18 Uhr war die Sonneneinstrahlung beinahe uneingeschränkt.

The weather forecast said we have a window to fly a valid task. Unfortunately a rain cell hit us exactly at the planned start time. So the conditions for a fair task were no longer given. Today's task led the pilots from Disentis to Schiers, 73 kilometres away. The task was set so because of the imminent early thunderstorms and the wind. At 12.00 the start was scheduled. The base was around 2900 meters, but the thermals in the area around Flims were very weak because of total cloudcovererage. The fast pilots were severely punished, for most of them the day was over around Ilanz / Domat. Those who had patience and flew high had better chances. Stephan Morgenthaler proved his skills and flew his own route which led to success. He was the only pilot to reach the finish line by the deadline.
