It looks like the organization took the right decision.

Bonsoir ! SAMEDI : Comme vous l'avez vu, la météo est incertaine pour demain : Une ligne de précipitations devraient passer demain matin, et le ciel devrait se dégager par l'ouest dans l'après-midi. Il y a 2 variables : Quand cela va-t-il s'ouvrir ? Est-ce que la bise rentrera assez pour poser problème au Salève ? En conséquence, pour le moment nous partons de l'idée que le cadre n'a pas lieu demain. Mais demain matin vers 8-9h je vous enverrai un SMS si les modèles semblent bons pour un vol. Dans tous les cas il semble que le spot volable sera certainement le salève dans l'après midi, donc je vous encourage à y aller pour voler en libre ;) DIMANCHE : Un créneau semble s'annoncer. Mais il y aura peut-être assez de bise pour empêcher le vol au Salève. Les plans de repli seraient donc Annecy ou le Valais central. Infos là-dessus demain soir. Bonne soirée et peut-être à demain ! Sorry for the delay but it was not easy to take a decision... We decided to cancel this event as there are too many risks of not being able to fly correct tasks. It might be flyable but there is a high chance that we will spend the days watching clouds passing in front of the take-off. In addition, we are not comfortable to ask pilots from all swiss regions to come to Geneva with such high degree of uncertainty. However, the west region league will organize something. More info for this regional event will be available on swissleague.ch tomorrow morning. As usual, all pilots are welcome! Cheers, Reynald & Patrick

The organizer (Patrick and Reynald) did not make a decision yet. But I'm sure, they will make the right one. One thing is clear for the Swiss League: We will not make a Swiss League Cup somewhere else. There are two reasons: 1) The weather is not perfect, nowhere, and 2) I am the hole weekend on a PWCA-meeting (in Geneva :-) ). Anyway, if a Swiss Cup is cancelled, we only would organize a Swiss League Cup under good circumstances (very nice weather in an other area). Right now I receive the information, that Swiss Cup and Swiss League Cup is cancelled. Reynald and Elie will organize Regio-Flight's. Infos soon.

Based on the latest weather models for the coming weekend, we still believe that it will be possible to organize tasks from the Salève. This being said, there is still some uncertainty about the wind. Some models show (especially for Sunday), some North-East wind which is not good to fly a task in our area. Therefore, we will take the final decision tomorrow noon and we will decide a/ if we go ahead with the Swiss Cup and b/if it will count for the Swiss league. So, stay tuned and as I am confident, you will already find below the waypoints file and the maps.

Weather forecast for the Geneva area looks “ok” for the moment but there is still a lot uncertainty. We will give more news this evening (around 8pm) and most likely the final decision will be taken tomorrow (Friday) at noon. Hope to see all of you this weekend. Cheers, Patrick & Reynald

We have a bad general situation: On the ground we have a general flow of humid air from the NE, in higher levels from SW. This mix is will continue for a while. Look at the first map: At ground we have 4 hp fom the jura to south of Graubünden. At 500hp it is exactly opposite. Waves of more or less humid air will influence the weather, but in general it will bei bad. Yesterday the prognosis has been a little hopeful for Zentralschweiz, today it looks like there is a small chance in the west of the Jura... But probably, even if the sun comes out for some hours, the humidity will produce a very low cloudbase and showers. We can not change the weather. Next chance is the Swiss Cup Salève next weekend (4.5.5.), followed be OGO (Appenzell, 11./12.5.), Frutigen (25./26.5.) and Grindelwald (1./2.6.). Plenty of chances for nice flying! All Swiss Cup count for the swiss league cup, as well the Swiss Championship at Meiringen (28.7.-2.8.). Registration for Swiss Cups and Championships at the link below. But we can gratulate our pilots from the Word Cup in Brazil! And some really nice flight have been done this week as well, especially the one from Chrigel is somehow very nice :-).

Saturday cancelled, decision for sunday Friday noon. Reason is, that the models for Sunday are very diffrent and unsecure.

Wir sind am eruieren von neuen Wetterberichten für die neue SHV-Meteo-Webseite. In den Bildern findet ihr den Regtherm/Toptherm für Mittwoch und Donnerstag für Graubünden und das Oberwallis. Für Anregungen und Feedback bin ich dankbar. Das Produkt ist übrigens auf Flugwetter.de > Toptask für rund 100.-/Jahr erhältlich. Die Daten stammen aus dem COSMO-EU (genau gleich wie der Regtherm), nicht aus dem COSMO 2 oder 7 der Schweiz. Es kann also Abweichungen zwischen Regtherm und COSMO haben, gemäss Kennern soll der COSMO EU insbesondere den Niederschlag etwas übertreiben. Das dürfte aber die nächsten zwei Tage nicht ins Gewicht fallen - endlich Frühling!

Leider kommt das gute Streckenflugwetter wieder einmal unter der Woche. Darum möchte ich alle Regiopiloten, einladen gemeinsam auf Strecke zu gehen. Ich hoffe der eine oder andere kann frei machen und das Wetter nutzen, denn am Wochenende sieht die Prognose schon wieder schlecht aus. Geplant ist gemeinsames Streckenfliegen im Prättigau und ich hoffe noch viel weiter. Wie versprochen, führe ich unter der Woche nur XC Modus durch, das heisst keine Race und das heisst man kann so weit fliegen wie man will und die Flüge für den XC Contest nutzen. Starten müssen wir am Mttwoch vom Stelserberg aus, da die Fanaserbahn am Mittwoche vormittags keine Fahrten macht. Treffpunkt Mittwoch Morgen in Schiers, Restaurant Alpina. Weitere Details folgen.

Zum Fliegen deutlich zu schlecht... war der Tag umso besser um die theoretischen Aspekte des Streckenfliegens zu bearbeiten und die letzten beiden Jura League Läufe zu debriefen. Mance Dinge lohnt es sich, wieder und wieder durchzuackern, damit sie zu Automatismen im Flug werden... Nach einem Abstecher ins virtuelle Segelfliegen kam auch der soziale Teil nicht zu kurz.... Kurzes update zum letzten Task in brasilien. Bei absoluten Traum Bedingungen konnten wir heute einen 70 km Task fliegen. Kurz nach der Hälfte wählten Michi Küffer, Michi Sigel und ich eine eigene Linie und flogen dem Feld davon. Ich fliege als erster mit ca. 1 min Vorsprung vor Michi Sigel und ca. 5 min vor dem Feld über die Linie. Über die Ranglisten kann bisher nur gesagt werden, dass das Spälti Team sowie die Schweiz mit komfortablem Vorsprung gewinnt... Michi und Ich teilen unter uns den 1. und 2. Platz auf. Fotos und Ranglisten sollten morgen folgen… nun wird gefeiert :-D Gruss in die nicht mehr so frühlingshafte Schweiz…

Amici piloti, purtroppo anche per domani, domenica, la meteo non sarà dalla nostra. Il weekend miniliga é quindi annullato. Prossimo appuntamento con il regionale: 15 o 16 giugno a dipendenza delle previsioni. Eventualmente ci sarebbe la possibilità di recuperare la data persa nel fine settimana 18 o 19 maggio, ma questo a dipendenza dei miei impegni in favore della patria :) Comunicherò qualcosa strada facendo. Today was a calm day here in baixo guandu. The sky was overcasted most of the time and thats why we had only a 50km task. Because of the cirrus clouds the thermals were very weak and after the big granit faces the thermals got very weak. We flew over the city and the tactic was simply to survive. Everyone was looking for better climbs and it was quite a mess with all those pilots trying to stay high. The leading group with stefan wyss and florian haller got a nice climb over the lake and tried to push for the first turnpoint in the north. I was between this group and the next one. The leading pilots went to a steep hill, but there was no thermal and most of them had to land shortly after. I could profit from this, made my way more through the flats and went later to the mountains, where alfredo studer got a nice climb. Together with him and a russian pilot we flew to the last turnpoint. Alfredo got a bad line and could not take the turnpoint. The russian an me could make houndred meters more at the turnpoint but then thermals shout down. By luck and better gliding i finished first today with ca. 31km. Bonsoir ! Bon ben vous avez ptet vu qu'on est de nouveau en hiver... :( En tout cas samedi c'est mort de chez mort. Dimanche semble potentiellement volable, mais les chances d'arriver à faire une manche ou un cross sont faibles. Vu qu'on déjà eu 4 manches, la décision est donc prise d'annuler ce weekend. RDV le weekend prochain pour la Swiss League Cup ! =) Bon weekend quand même ! Elie

Hoi Zäme Das Wetter lässt uns einen Theorieteil durchführen, ohne immer aus dem Fenster blicken zu müssen. Wir treffen uns in der Witschi AG, Murgenthalstrasse 87, 4900 Langenthal am Sonntag um 14.00. Thema: Wettkampftaktik und Streckenflugtaktik. Auch werden wir unsere beiden Tasks nochmals analysieren. Bitte Schirm mitnehmen, man weiss ja nie, ob der Nordwind und die Wolken uns plötzlich eine kleine Chance geben, auf der Schwengi einen Flug zu machen am Abend. Bitte etwas für den Grill und etwas Flüssiges mitnehmen.
