XC Ligafliegen
Debriefing "XC Fiesch"
Christian Maurer,
16. August 2018

Medienbericht Swiss Open Disentis
Martin Scheel,
13. August 2018
Stefan Morgenthaler, Staffelbach, 3852 Punkte, 2. Michael Maurer, Frutigen, 3770 Punkte, 2. Tim Bollinger Nods 3681 Punkte Damen: 1. Yael Margelisch, Verbier, 3533 Punkte, 2. Nanda Walliser, Leissigen, 2922 Punkte, 3. Gabriela Mettler, Stäfa, 1818 Punkte Die Resultate im Detail: www.disentis-open.ch Für weitere Auskünfte oder Interviews mit den Piloten steht der Technische Leiter Martin Scheel gerne zur Verfügung. Weather Report and Info Friday (Reports and all other Infos at www.disentis-open.ch)
Martin Scheel,
10. August 2018
In the lower layer cool air is supplied from the northeast, in the higher layer humid air from the southwest. Cloudy, brightening in the afternoon. However, the base remains low and hardly rises above launch site height. From 16 o'clock in our southern mountains again precipitation. The wind is weak below cloud base. Undefined, or weak valley winds (up to Ilanz, Chur has valley wind). Maybe some wind near Congestus, but probably only in the evening and not at our place. Our problem will be the cloud-base height. Probably (!!) we go to Caischavedra at 11:30. Chance of a flight 80%. Chance for a task 30%. Next info at 10:00. Tonight, 19 h: Salad, Chicken-Curry, Dessert for CHF 19.

Update: Weather Report and Info Tuesday
Martin Scheel,
7. August 2018
At noon clouds loosening up and in the lower Surselva quite sunny. At Disentis we will have more Clouds, but ok for a Take off. Formation of 2-4/8 Cumulus, above the relief Congestus, which rain more in the north of us because of the SW wind. Base in the beginning low, but rising up at 15h to 3100. Increasing SW wind from 13h, especially in the Lukmanier Pass area. We go up at 10:30. Briefing Caischavedra 11 o'clock. Maybe we have to wait a little bit.

Weather Report and Info Tuesday
Martin Scheel,
6. August 2018
A trough at 5000m was not visible in the old forecasts. It lies above the Western Alps and makes the weather unpredictable. This is independent of the front, which is announced Thursday evening / night. The effect is: warm and humid air and many and violent thunderstorms. A classic southwesterly airflow with unpredictable thunderstorms. Tuesday: https://meteo.search.ch/prognosis This is COSMO1, and rather exaggerated. In the morning, however, there will be widespread precipitation in Ticino. But dry in the evening, so acyclic. We have to be ready because the wind is also a problem. Probably ( !!!! ) we go up at 9:30 and briefing Caischavedra 10:00. Next info Tuesday morning, 8am. Wednesday: A little more south-wind, we benefit from a slight Foehn effect. Thursday: Föhn. Front on Thursday evening / night. Friday: Probably clouds and precipitation. Saturday: Drier, cooler air, with still southwesterly winds: As it looks today, it is good for a task (intermediate high) on Saturday before it is thundery again on Sunday. Update Weather Report and Informations for Monday
Martin Scheel,
6. August 2018
Early development of Cumulus, first showers in Disentis at 13h, later in the whole Surselva. Early development of thermals. Base 3000m? From 11 o'clock increasing SW-wind. Probably too strong to fly against the wind. We're doing a short task. 9:00 we go up. 9:30 Briefing Caischavedra.

Martin Scheel,
5. August 2018
Cold air drop is further south than expected. Cumulus already at night, in the morning probably already medium-high clouds. During the day fast development of Congestus with rain showers in the early afternoon. Perhaps we will benefit from a certain foehn effect. We try to do a small task early. Because of the SW-Wind, we probably do not land at Disentis. Pls load the new airspace file, which is necessary due to the aircraft accident. We go up at 9:00 Briefing Caischavedra 9:30

Swiss Open Disentis: Weather report and info
Martin Scheel,
4. August 2018
Weather forecast Saturday: The models differ from each other. Our COSMO-E and COSMO-1 show quite a lot of northeast wind and no precipitation. With the Previtemp the base would be calculated at 3700m. GFS and others show less wind and air more humid with thunderstorms in the afternoon. Base 3300m. A mix of forecasts: 4hp North overpressure. North-northeast wind: - 2000m 10kts - 3000m 15kts Normal valley winds, strong in Chur! Strong thermals, base 3500m. The big clouds will cause shadows (because of the wind). Cumulus, but in our region only a small chance of thunderstorms. We're going to start early because of the wind. Meeting point: 9:30 Headquarter or directly at 9:55 at the valley station. We will hand out Maps and tickets for the cable car.

Meteo Saturday: Base 3000m, possible thunderstorms in the afternoon, especially north of the Rhine. It should stay dry towards the south. Base will be again above 3000m. The wind is problematic. - The COSMO models predict quite a lot of north wind, - GFS (MeteoParapente), much less. 3hp north overpressure. We're going to start early because of the wind. Meeting point: 9:30 Headquarter or directly at 9:55 at the valley station. We will hand out maps and tickets for the cable car. Registration: 17h - 20h Welcome Apero: 19:30 Briefing: 21:00

A little moister air, a little cold air in high altitude. Earlier overdevelopments. Tuesday: Becomes drier again, a little cold air in high altitude, thunderstorm in the course of the afternoon.
